About Golfito, Costa Rica
Golfito is a hidden treasure on Costa Rica’s southern pacific coast.
It is a small port town that sits between the Golfo Dulce and a protected mountain of primary and secondary rainforest. Golfito caters to its residents, with a budding focus on eco-tourism, and so a visit to Golfito supports community-based ecotourism while giving travelers a taste of an authentic Costa Rican port town.
Golfito enjoys the best of Costa Rica's natural landscape. On the water, whether it be in the mangroves or dolphin/whale watching, you will often have the Golfo Dulce to yourself.
Sharing the same greenbelt as the Osa Peninsula, with Piedras Blancas National Park as its immediate neighbor, Golfito’s mountains, bay, islands, and primary rainforest create a unique, tranquil ambiance, ideal for viewing the bounty of its natural diversity.
It also offers direct access, by boat, to the Sirena Station in Corcovado National Park, the crown jewel of Costa Rica’s national park system.
